What is MaterialX?

MaterialX is a professional PBR (Physically-Based Rendering) material creation tool for Apple Vision Pro. Create stunning materials from photos or edit existing 3D models with real-time preview in spatial computing.

What file formats are supported?

MaterialX supports importing USDZ, GLTF, and GLB files. You can export materials in USDZ, GLTF, GLB, Reality, and MaterialX's native .pbrp format.

How do subscriptions work?

MaterialX offers three subscription tiers: Monthly, Half-Yearly, and Annual. All subscriptions provide unlimited exports without watermarks. You can also purchase individual exports without a subscription.

Can I use my materials in other 3D applications?

Yes! Materials created in MaterialX can be exported to standard formats (USDZ, GLTF/GLB) that work in most 3D applications including Blender, Unity, Unreal Engine, Cinema 4D, and more.

How do I manage or cancel my subscription?

You can manage or cancel your subscription at any time through the App Store. Go to Settings > [Your Name] > Subscriptions, find MaterialX, and select your preferred option. You can also manage subscriptions directly in the MaterialX app under Account settings.

What is the refund policy?

All purchases are handled through the App Store. For refund requests, please contact Apple Support directly or visit reportaproblem.apple.com

What PBR texture maps can I generate?

MaterialX generates 8 different PBR texture maps: Diffuse/Albedo, Normal, Metallic, Roughness, Ambient Occlusion, Clearcoat, Clearcoat Roughness, and Displacement. Each map can be individually adjusted using filter controls.

Does MaterialX work offline?

Yes! MaterialX works completely offline. An internet connection is only required for downloading the app, making in-app purchases, or accessing cloud storage if you choose to use it.

Getting Started

New to MaterialX? Here's how to get started creating professional PBR materials:

  1. Explore Examples — MaterialX includes example materials and presets to help you understand the workflow and see what's possible.
  2. Import a Photo — Use the Photos picker to import a texture image. MaterialX will automatically generate all 8 PBR texture maps.
  3. Adjust Filters — Fine-tune each texture map using the filter controls. See changes in real-time on the 3D preview.
  4. Use the Crop Tool — Crop your source images for better tiling and material quality. Perfect for removing unwanted edges.
  5. Import 3D Models — Drag and drop USDZ or GLTF files to edit existing materials on your own models.
  6. Preview in Space — Use immersive mode to preview your materials in real-world scale and lighting conditions.
  7. Export Your Work — Export to USDZ, GLTF, or other formats for use in your favorite 3D applications.
